ABOUT J. GRANT LAW
Judith J. Grant
Founder & Managing Attorney
Judith J. Grant is the founder of J. Grant Law, LLC, where she represents individuals in criminal defense, personal injury, and civil rights matters throughout Georgia. A former prosecutor and former insurance defense attorney, Judith brings a distinctive perspective to her practice—one shaped by experience on multiple sides of the courtroom and by handling more than 1,000 cases throughout her legal career.
She founded J. Grant Law, LLC with a clear vision: to provide the preparation, strategy, and advocacy expected from a sophisticated litigation practice while preserving the accessibility, personal attention, and direct attorney involvement of a boutique law firm.
EXPERIENCE BUILT IN THE COURTROOM
Judith’s practice is centered on representing individuals when the stakes are high. Her criminal defense practice focuses on DUI and serious felony matters, while her civil practice includes personal injury and civil rights claims.
Judith believes clients should never feel like case numbers. Effective representation begins with listening—understanding the client, understanding what is at stake, and developing a strategy based on the individual circumstances of the case.
Her approach is grounded in thorough preparation, direct communication, individualized attention, and strategic and relentless advocacy. Whether a client is facing the loss of freedom, recovering from an injury, or seeking accountability for the violation of a constitutional right, Judith approaches each matter with an understanding that the outcome can have a lasting impact on that client’s life and future.
CIVIL LITIGATION & INSURANCE DEFENSE EXPERIENCE
Judith’s legal career also includes experience as an insurance defense attorney, where she represented insurers and their insureds in civil litigation. That experience provided insight into how insurance companies investigate, evaluate, defend, negotiate, and litigate claims.
Today, she brings that perspective to her personal injury practice, using her understanding of insurance defense strategy to advocate for individuals who have been injured and are seeking compensation.
PROTECTING RIGHTS. PURSUING JUSTICE.
Judith’s commitment to advocacy began early in her legal career. While in law school, she participated in a Civil Rights Clinic, where her first trial took place in federal court representing an incarcerated individual in a civil rights action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. That experience helped shape her commitment to protecting individual rights and advocating for people facing powerful institutions and life-changing legal circumstances.
Judith later served as a prosecutor, gaining firsthand experience evaluating criminal investigations, analyzing evidence, questioning witnesses, negotiating cases, and presenting cases in court. Throughout her legal career, she has handled more than 1,000 cases and has trial experience involving serious and complex criminal matters, including murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, DUI, and other criminal offenses.
Her experience as a former prosecutor now provides valuable insight in her work as a criminal defense attorney. She understands how prosecutors evaluate evidence, develop theories of a case, prepare witnesses, assess defenses, and make decisions about prosecution. She uses that perspective to anticipate the State’s strategy, identify weaknesses in its case, and develop a defense tailored to the unique circumstances of each client.
